My name is Paul Hewitt and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), the newest member of the team here at Afterglow. I am truly looking forward to this next chapter in my career, as people-centered care and connection has been a cornerstone of my work thus far.
I would classify myself as a jack of many trades rather than a master of one, as I believe enjoyment can be found in just about anything. Gardening, skiing, cooking, and traveling are some of the things I love doing, but nothing tops my love of grocery shopping. I often find excuses to go to the grocery store, even if it’s just for one item, because it feels like home to me. Just know that I have a definitive tier list of grocery store shopping experiences and would love to be asked about it.
Reading is something that I really enjoy as part of a wind-down at the end of the day - some of my favourite books are The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, and Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood. Thinking about this mindful decision to end the day decentering the screens that take up so much of our work and personal lives, I’ve noticed that I fall asleep much quicker and easier in doing so. What does your bedtime routine look like? Do you often feel like there is some unresolved item from the day nagging at you during this time? Think about how you can choose to be present in the moment while you’re preparing for bed, allowing yourself to process the day but also leave it behind as you work to ‘close up shop’ – mind and body – for the night.
If you’re interested in a free consultation or a meeting with myself, please feel free to call 519-865-9777 or email us admin@afterglowpsychotherapy.com to arrange this. Wishing you all the best in 2026 and that it proves to be an excellent year for your wellbeing!
